Get Wiltshire Walking is an initiative offering free short weekly walks across 20 locations in the county, all guided by trained volunteer walk leaders. These walks are designed to be inclusive, social, and a great way to stay active while exploring the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

In addition to the regular weekly walks, the initiative also features special challenge events throughout the year and this year, Great Bedwyn was proud to host one of these exciting events. The challenge brought together 130 walkers from across the county for a memorable day of community spirit, scenic routes, and shared achievement.

The walkers assembled at the village hall on Monday 4th August, some from as far afield as Mere and Salisbury. They were offered a choice of 3 routes of different lengths. The weather was kind, and feedback from walkers was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the stunning countryside surrounding Great Bedwyn.

To join the weekly Bedwyn walk, simply go to the Village Hall in Frog Lane, Great Bedwyn by 10:20am on any Monday (except Bank Holidays). Look for a walk leader in a yellow high visibility jacket.

Walks are tailored to the pace of the slowest walker, covering 2 to 2.5 miles on established tracks, towpaths, or roads. Nordic poles are available for new walkers, with guidance in their use provided.
