1. Holloway, Roman Road, Wilton Brail

Distance: approx 6km (3.75 miles)

Map: OS Explorer 157 (GPX file here)

Walking conditions: Moderate. No stiles. If cross-field paths are under plough use field edge.

This circular walk rises from the towpath, through a restored ancient sunken path, to fields with beautiful views. After a short stretch along a Roman Road, it descends back to Bedwyn through woodland and fields.

2. Bedwyn Circular

Distance: approx 6.5km (4 miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate. One pedestrian rail crossing. Steady inclines. No stiles. 

This walk starts from the village square, goes out of the village along Galley Lane, crosses fields skirting the Brails and down to the canal towpath. Leaving the canal and railway behind, it goes up Hatchet Lane to cross the fields towards Chisbury Wood, where it drops back down into the village.

3. St Katharine's via Chisbury Woods and Bedwyn Common

Distance: approx 7.5km (4.75 miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate walking conditions, although may be muddy in places. One stile.

This circular walk starts from the village square and rises up to Chisbury Wood. After a short stretch along a quiet country lane, the route crosses Bedwyn Common to St Katherine's. Then alongside woodland and across fields, the route arrives back in Bedwyn along Church Street.

4. Wilton Water and Crofton

Distance: approx. 3.6 km (2¼ miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate walking conditions. Two stiles and two flights of steps up banks.

A circular walk from Wilton village out alongside Wilton Water to the Kennet and Avon Canal and Crofton Beam Engines.

5. Little Bedwyn, Monk's Lane and Chisbury

Distance: approx. 9.6 km (6 miles)

Walking conditions: Five stiles and some steep steps over the canal and railway line in Little Bedwyn, which can be avoided by taking the road instead.

From the centre of Great Bedwyn, this walk goes through Little Bedwyn up to Harrow Farm, crossing farmland with wide open views and returning via Chisbury

6. The Brails and Kennet & Avon Canal

Distance: approx. 4.7 km (3 miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate walking conditions. No stiles.

This circular walk begins at the Wharf in Great Bedwyn, crosses the fields to Castle Copse, over more fields with beautiful views, then descends to the canal towpath and back to Bedwyn.

7. Birch Copse

Distance: approx. 5.3 km (3¼ miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate walking conditions. No stiles.

This circular walk begins at the Wharf car park and goes across fields and through woodland.

8. Little Bedwyn & Burridge Heath

Distance: approx. 4.6 km (4¾ miles)

Walking conditions: Moderate walking conditions, some road walking. An uphill stretch, no stiles.

This circular walk begins at the Wharf car park in Great Bedwyn and goes alongside the Kennet & Avon Canal to Little Bedwyn. It then sets off through woodland and across fields before returning to the car park.
