Directions
-
Starting from Great Bedwyn Wharf (Grid Ref SU 280 644), turn right on the road (Brook Street). After about 45m (50 yds) follow a footpath sign on the right, uphill.
-
At a fork, veer left into the field, keeping the woodland on the left. At a dip in in the field by a sign turn half right diagonally, heading for a kissing gate into woodland - Bedwyn Brail. Continue along a well made track through the wood. Pass two signed junctions. Then, just at a signed cross-paths, turn right onto a grass path.
-
Continue through woodland, keeping left as the path emerges into a clearing. Go through a kissing gate into a field and head half right to a gate in the bottom right corner and go through the car yard. At the road, turn right.
-
After about 45m (50 yds), turn left at a footpath sign opposite the entrance to Brail Farm. Go through a pedestrian gate and continue along the edge of two fields. Walk with the wood (Wilton Brail) on your left, for 800m (½ mile) to a junction of paths.
-
Ignore a kissing gate on your left and turn sharp right, keeping the field boundary on your left and heading downhill on the bridleway.
-
At the canal (Kennet & Avon), turn right along the towpath. Pass under a bridge (Mill Bridge), and continue along the towpath back to the Wharf.
