Sunday 26th April. 4.75 miles

Crofton beam engine tower and building

Date: Sunday 26th April Time: 10.00 am – 12.45 Location: Chisbury. Contact for details

This route has recently become more accessible by the replacement of seven stiles with gates funded by a grant from North Wessex Downs National Landscape and installed by Bedwyn Footpaths Group volunteers Footpath access improvements at Chisbury

After a short walk through Heron’s Point wood and across fields, we’ll arrive at Chisbury and make a brief visit to the little thatched chapel, now a disused barn and under the care of English Heritage.

Our route then passes along quiet country lanes, sunken wooded paths and tracks before crossing and turning back at the A4 main road to return through fields along Monk’s Lane, an ancient pathway.

No stiles, long gentle hills, no steep ascents. Parking at start by private arrangement. Please contact for location of meet point and parking. Car share if possible.

Bring a drink or snack for our short refreshment stop.
