Group walk: Chisbury Wood

The planned route to Stock Common and Hatchet Lane had to be changed at short notice because of flooding in Hatchet Lane after the heavy rain of recent weeks.
With rain still forecast a group of 7 wet weather walkers set off up Forest Hill for a shorter route on a loop through Chisbury Wood instead.
Peter Angus suggested a few diversions on lesser known paths to avoid some of the muddier places so, considering the weather, it was a very enjoyable and interesting walk.
Chisbury Wood, to the north of Great Bedwyn, is managed by the Forestry Commission and, in addition to the rights-of-way, all paths are usually open to walkers providing that no timber works are in progress.
